What is Smithers Younger Guitar Camp ?

It’s an awesome week-long program specializing in guitar instruction, welcoming youth, ages 10-18.

Program Goals

The program is designed to help participants explore guitar and creativity skills in a structured and fun environment

Participant objectives

• Increase technical proficiency on the guitar
• Achieve greater musical confidence
• Learn to interact musically with others
• Participate in the creation of a CD
• Activities
• Small group guitar instruction
• Recording session
• Hand drumming
• Campfire jams
• Field sports and games
• Creative photography

Lodging

Driftwood Bible Camp (non-church affiliated) located in the Driftwood area 10 minutes from town.

Staff

Our staff and volunteers possess a genuine interest in creating a safe and encouraging environment while participants pursue musical talents.

Jordy Walker enjoys a diverse professional career as a performer, instructor, writer, composer and sound engineer/producer. He resides in Ottawa and has designed and instructed guitar classes for youth for 13 years.

A dynamic and spontaneous performer, Bowen Island cellist and guitarist Corbin Keep plays in a variety of styles, ranging from classical to rock with many points in between. His totally engaging personality will certainly appeal to all guitar campers.

Hélène Fleury is a teacher in the Bulkley Valley and has been creating musical and outdoor programs for youth for the last 10 years.

Tuition

Tuition is $325* and includes :

• Lodging for 4 nights
• 3 delicious meals and snacks daily
• Enthusiastic and experienced guitar instructors and staff
• Participation in the recording of a CD
• Lots of cool outdoor activities and fun !

Complete the following registration form and return by July 15, 2007. Send the completed form along with a $150 deposit (non-refundable) to reserve your space (the remaining balance is to be paid on the first day of camp):
